Lumps and bumps of the periocular skin can be both confusing and alarming to the optometric clinician. This course reviews some of the more common and important dermatologic conditions encountered in clinical practice, including cutaneous malignancies.CEE
- At the conclusion of this course, the attendee will be able to: 1. Identify a wide range of skin lesions associated with the eyelids and ocular adnexa; 2. Recognize the pathophysiology and clinical significance associated with these lesions; 3. Understand the potential systemic implications associated with these lesions; 4. Identify the key differences between malignant and non-malignant skin lesions; 5. Outline a sound management plan for each of these dermatologic disorders; 6. Counsel patients appropriately with regard to supportive, pharmacologic and/or surgical management of these various dermatologic disorders.
