Developments in Glaucoma Surgery
2014 Optometry's Meeting Course Recording- Glaucoma is a condition in which optic nerve damage and visual field loss occur, often due to elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). Medical therapy is the customary mode of therapy but surgical management is often needed in hard to control cases. The original surgical procedure, developed 50 years ago is fraught with problems and recent developments are meant to continue reducing the IOP with fewer side effects and complications. This course will discuss recent developments in the area of glaucoma surgery and illustrate the evolution of the different surgical procedures.
