2015 Optometry's Meeting Recording - Today's Eye Care Professional is faced with many ocular pathology disorders resulting in poorer vision. Doctors often don't think of using lenses in the treatment of ocular pathologies. Today's new lens technologies can be used to manage patients with diabetes, cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, corneal dystrophies as well as other ocular conditions. Poor tear film, corneal scarring, medication deposits in the cornea, cataract changes all contribute to poorer contrast sensitivity. Chronic disorders can result in visual symptoms that cannot be remediated through eye drops or pills. This course will examine the visual challenges such as scattering, glare and higher order aberrations caused by ocular disease. This course describes how to better manage ocular pathology conditions by prescribing spectacle lenses that will restore lost vision to your patients and slow the progression of vision loss in your patients.
