Service Animals and the ADA

Some pets provide more than just affection. Some pets – especially dogs – are considered ‘service animals’ under the Americans With Disabilities Act. Pet dogs will make their way into doctors’ offices. You may ask yourself as a doctor of optometry when a patient is accompanied with a dog, ‘What should I do? What factors should my staff and I consider?’ This course navigates issues surrounding service animals, emotional support animals, and therapy animals, while analyzing the intersection between service animals and ADA compliance.
